The view from the plane window reminded me why we had chosen Croatia for our longest vacation in several years -- Green landscape, turquoise-blue water, islands everywhere, and orange roofed houses.
the Split airport is small but adequate. We arrived, picked up our rental car and started down the narrow road to Split. Along the way we stopped at one of the many "Tommy" markets and picked up some soft drinks, Jana water and candy bars. Prices were similar to the U.S.
One of my favorite drinks in Eastern Europe is Jana waters. It is obtained from an underground spring 2500 feet beneath the Croatian village of Saint Jana and contains both calcium and magnesium but has a mild flavor. I like the lemon flavored Jana which is slightly sweetened (containing approximately 40 calories for .5 liter bottle).
