Baska Voda and Brela 2010

Even though we’ve stayed in Baska Voda before, we’ve always used it as our first night layover on our trip down the coast or as a place to stay the night before flying out of Split. This time, we spent two full days and realized that it has a lot to offer.

A great walk…At breakfast, a German couple told us about the wonderful beaches of Brela, The village north of Baska Voda. You can walk all the way from Baska Voda to Brela and swim anywhere along 6 kilometers of white pebble beaches. There are a number of larger beach areas (like the one pictured above)...

...as well as small coves accented by rugged rock jetties and pine trees.

The water is shades of green and turquoise, so clear that you can see to the bottom. We enjoyed the walk, the sights, and the beaches.

It was interesting to see this "Fruit Boat" selling fresh fruit along the beaches.  Bathers were cooling off with large slices of watermelon.

Our para-sail was decorated with  a happy face
A great “flight”…We decided to stop at one of the many para-sail stands along the promenade in Baska Voda. The flight was a wonderful experience costing 400 kuna for a tandem ride. We were in the air about 10 minutes and never touched the water going up or coming down.
We were pleased again with our stay at the Hotel Croatia.  For more on Baska Voda and Hotel Croatia, read the 2009 post, Makarska Riviera.
