The cheapest way to get from the coast to Hvar is at Drvenik--in fact it is about 1/3 the price of taking the ferry from Split to Hvar. But there is a price: the hour and a half ride from Sucaraj (where the ferry docks) to Hvar City is a bit scary at times with hair pin curves on a narrow, bumpy two lane road without a shoulder. The road improves the last 30 minutes of the drive.
