I often hear this question when I say that I love traveling in Croatia. Although it has been a European vacation spot for years, this small country with a mild, warm climate and scenic coastline, is just being discovered by tourists worldwide.
For forty years the charm of Croatia was hidden behind the curtain of Soviet Communism. The past twenty years, like all of the countries once united under the name Yugoslavia, Croatia has introduced us to its unique personality.
I’m not sure who wouldn’t love Croatia. It has it all—history, beauty, beaches, and newly-discovered points of interest. It’s a country where you can stay in a luxury hotel or a mom-and-pop bed and breakfast and enjoy the same seaside view.
Ancient walled cities, like Dubrovnik, sit atop sculpted cliffs. Crystal clear waters fondle pebbled beaches, and ferries connect hundreds of unique islands to the coast.
If you know what to look for, you can vacation in Croatia quite inexpensively while enjoying the sights and sounds that are usually reserved for the rich and famous. And, best of all, most Croatians along the Dalmatian Coast are used to speaking English.
